POWER FACTOR CORRECTION

Providing Efficient Electrical Power

Power factor is the ratio of the active or usable power measured in kilowatts (kW) to the total power (active and reactive) measured in kilovolt-amperes (KVA) consumed by electrical equipment or complete electrical installation. It is a measure of the efficiency of the electrical power that is being converted into useful work output.

Businesses with large electricity consumption have seen changes in the way they are charged for demand, and a Power Factor Correction (PFC) installed is greatly beneficial in such a way that it will increase the efficiency of power supply, delivering immediate cost savings on electricity.

The benefits of Power Factor Correction can include:

  • ✓  Reduced cost - Reduction in kVA demand, and therefore electricity costs. This will be ongoing savings for the life of the equipment.
  • ✓  Equipment life - Extend the life of your current equipment on site.
  • ✓  Compliance - Compliance with regulatory codes.
  • ✓  Expansion - More power available for site expansion without the need for upgrading the sites Transformer/s, Switchboards and cable.

TNT Electrical Services offers services that ensure, assess and improve power factor in your site, as well as PFC equipment maintenance which include checking that the system is operating at optimum performance levels.
